The report analyses how during this pandemic period companies experienced the difficulties and operational risks imposed by international supply and demand imbalances, shortages of many materials (e.g. semiconductors) and rising prices of energy, transport and many raw materials. In the face of these major disruptions, most companies have behaved reactively, but in such circumstances a proactive attitude should be adopted, providing the ability to anticipate major supply chain disruptions and to mitigate them through prevention (reducing the likelihood of occurrence of damaging events) and protection (mitigating their effects). The report was written by processing empirical evidence from a sample of 147 Italian manufacturing companies. Data were collected between April 2018 and January 2021 by the RISE Laboratory of the University of Brescia and support provided by IQ Consulting SrL. |
